London Marathon 2011

On Sunday the 17th April 2011 I ran my 15th London Marathon for WaterAid. I lined up at the back of the Red start in pen 9 with my friends the Rhino’s, a Lion, and a whole herd of Humans. The air was thick with nervous energy. My Sheik Mustafa (Ant Tyler) ran alongside to …

Reading Half Marathon 2011

Sorry for the late race report (my padded feet get stuck in the keyboard sometimes and I get writers block). I completed this years Reading Half Marathon in a time of 02:06:16. I was pretty pleased with my pretty consistent split times: 5K – 00:30:11 10K – 00:59:03 15K – 01:30:45 20K – 02:00:12 I …

Goring 10K – 2011

I got a chance to test my legs this weekend at the Goring 10K. It was a chilly but sunny day, and there was the usual friendly village feel, with about 1000 runners (mostly human). I really enjoy this race, I think it was my 6th race and I’ll always come back for more. Felt …

Virgin London Marathon 2010 (Humphreys 14th)

Humphrey finished his 14th London Marathon in a time of 4h49min. It was a great race….. Humphrey had the pleasure of meeting Abel Kirui (Kenyan World Marathon Champion) on Friday near Tower Bridge. He knew the competition would be stiff. Abel said there were lots of Camels in Kenya, but he had not yet met …

Goring 10k – 28th February 2010

Humphrey took part in a wet and muddy Goring 10k on Sunday. Was quite slippery under foot, but really good fun as always. Finished in 59 minutes, not bad for the first run on the season. He passed quite a few tired humans on the hills of Goring and was well supported all the way …

London Marathon 2006, Humphrey finishes his 10th!

Humphrey has done it again – on Sunday 23 April he finished his 10th London Marathon – and he didn’t just finish while it was still daylight, but he crossed the line before 5 pm. Not bad for a camel who made his first appearance way back in 1996. We sent our intrepid reporter to …

Humphrey and Nics - Reading Half Marathon 2006

Sorry for the delay in writing my race report….my padded feet are a little tender after the run which is affecting my typing…..anyway here goes. I really enjoyed my dash around Reading on the 9th April. The field was bigger and crowd louder than previous years. I took up my position at the start amongst …

my London Marathon performances (9 down + 1 = 10)

Humphreys track record over his last 9 marathons. One to go to make it a "perfect 10" (well almost…). I need to dig deep to recall my finishing times, will also scan a few old photo’s. Wish a Camel had the memory of an Elephant.  Year  Humps  Minder  Time  1996  Jeff Farrow, Paul Nash   …

Goring 10k, 2006

I took part in a super 10k race in Goring this morning (Sunday 26th Feb 2006). I was a bit unsure of the offroad sections but a kind marshal informed me the bridleway is fit for horses so it must be ok for camels too! It was a cold morning for the humans and I …

London Marathon 2005

Duke Humphrey Road

After months of preparation and anticipation it was now time to put on my racing hooves and join the masses for the 25th London Marathon. I wasn’t able to follow Paula’s training schedule but stuck to her breakfast plan of porridge and honey on race day. I was fortunate to have been given refuge in an Inn near Blackheath so I only had …
